We offer a variety of programs and services that help make Union Square a better place to work, stay and play. Watch the video below to learn more.

Cleaning, Public Safety, and Hospitality Ambassadors -  A clean and safe environment brings new businesses to the area and keeps visitors coming back. The USBID’s red-jacketed Ambassadors are a welcoming presence in the district, assisting thousands of visitors every week giving directions and providing referrals and points of interest and serving as additional “eyes and ears” on the street. Services are provided seven days a week and include sidewalk and gutter sweeping, graffiti removal, sidewalk power washing, and special projects.  

Cleaning:  5:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Public Safety: 5:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Hospitality: 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

All properties receive a sidewalk hot water pressure washing every two weeks.

Properties get graffiti removal up to 8 feet, with property owners authorization.

Social Service Outreach – The USBID hires a dedicated social service outreach worker assisting persons in the district with emergency care, including referrals to housing, hospital, and mental health services provided by City and non-profit providers. Hours of service: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Supplemental Police Patrol (10B) – The USBID’s “10B” police officer patrols the district 7 days a week, 10 hours a day acting as a crime deterrent and assists with arrests when needed.

Marketing – The USBID creates and implements imaginative PR, marketing and social media projects, and programs to brand and promote the district and let our visitors, members, and stakeholders know about the district’s unique qualities, attractions, and events.

Public Affairs and Advocacy – The USBID advocates for the district, speaking as the “voice of Union Square”, by representing the interests of members at the federal, state, and local level.

Public Realm & Streetscape Improvements   – The USBID develops and promotes public realm improvements that distinguish Union Square with innovate public space concepts and elements that enhance the pedestrian experience leading to increased visitors, visibility, and vibrancy for the district.
