LesConcierges’ Guide to Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Union Square SF

**Guest post by the team at LesConcierges located in Union Square

If anyone knows where and how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Union Square, San Francisco, it’s the 100+ Concierges residing at LesConcierges on Maiden Lane in the heart of the Square.

When we asked our lifestyle experts which spots they recommend and events they will partake in for this good-humored holiday, the responses were typically varied and on-trend. Take a look at what our connoisseurs recommend:

Don’t be surprised to run into our Concierges themselves at The Irish Bank (10 Mark Ln. — the hidden alley off Bush St. and Grant Ave.) as they will be hosting their annual party with live music on both March 15 and March 17.  Live music starts with The Shams at noon, The Bog Savages at 3pm, followed by DJ Marcus from 6pm until midnight.  We especially recommend going to the outside tables and tasting the ice-cold pints of Guinness that are served to perfection.

Another great Irish establishment worth considering is Johnny Foley’s Irish House, where traditional Irish food, drink, and music can be enjoyed. Saturday, March 15 and Monday, March 17, Timmy G and Belinda Bohanna will perform their Irish music project, “Fast and Vengefully”, featuring classic Irish tunes and jigs, as well as modern day songs by native Irish artists such as The Pogues and U2. Complete the holiday with Foley’s traditional Irish food, which includes corned beef and cabbage and cottage pie.

Not into the bar or party scene but still would like to be a part of the festivities and Irish culture?  Start your Saturday off with the 163rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.  The parade begins at 11:30am at 2nd and Market St. and makes its way up to Civic Center Plaza where a huge festival awaits.  Our advice: get there early for a front row viewing spot along Market Street.

If you want to celebrate on actual St. Patrick’s Day (maybe leave work a bit early if you can), venture over to the Royal Exchange (301 Sacramento St.) on March 17 for their block party starting at 3:00pm. This landmark Irish restaurant and bar has been celebrating St. Patrick’s Day since 1972 and serves over 72 beers on tap.
