DASH Improv at Un-Scripted Theater – For this interactive comedy, the DASH cast mixes games and scenes into a morphing spectacle that incorporates ideas and suggestions from the audience, just remember anything can (and probably will) happen. Runs Saturday nights ongoing.
As the Fog Rolls In: Improved Soap Opera at Un-Scripted Theater – Passion and deceit are behind every fog bank in this soap opera world of San Francisco. Watch as improvisors weave together sex, backstabbing and melodrama into a deadly serious, yet humorous drama. Runs Aug. 19 – 27.
The Thrush & the Woodpecker at Custom Made Theatre Co. Brenda Hendricks has her hands full dealing with her son Noah who has returned home after being expelled from a prestigious college. When an elegant and mysterious woman arrives at their doorstep dragging along buried secretes and stories about mysterious birds, Brenda and Noah find their world turned upside down. Runs now – Aug. 27.
City of Angels at San Francisco Playhouse – Take a trip to the ’40s in this this musical comedy when Film Noir ruled the silver screen, and delight as the tales of a struggling Hollywood writer and the filming of his latest noir oeuvre unspool. Where his leading character keeps speaking back to him and the femme fatales won’t stay on the screen! Runs now – Sep. 17.
King Charles III at A.C.T. Geary Theater – This Broadway hit speculates history and blurs the boundaries of truth and tragedy. With Queen Elizabeth dead, is Charles the man who would be king, or was he born to succeed only in name? Runs Sep. 14 – Oct. 19.
Secret Improv Society at Shelton Theater – This improvisational comedy revue of songs and sketches about whatever topics the audience suggests. The format is best described as “medium-form;” some stories and themes are interwoven throughout the show. Audience participation is common. Runs Friday and Saturday nights ongoing.
