Our tasting area will be in front of the Grand Hyatt courtyard with bites, cocktails and live music. Remember to RSVP on Eventbrite for a chance to get in (note: we can’t guarantee entry –instead, we’ll allow RSVP’d folks in on a first come first serve basis).
Even if you don’t make it to the tasting area, there will be art openings, parties, tastings and more happening all throughout the Square. Pick up your map at the Grand Hyatt and explore our neighborhood. Here are all the juicy details:
The Tasting Area
Bay Leaf Kitchen – will show you how to have fun with vegetables by using them as stamps for recipe notecards!
Anzu – spicy smoked chicken poke in a black sesame cone with a dollop of lemon aioli
Bartlett Hall – octopus and watermelon salad paired with smoked paprika, sesame oil and California chili relish
Burritt Room + Tavern – beef tartare with sourdough breadcrumbs, cured egg yolk, avocado, queso fresco and fried capers
Café Claude – puff pastry gougères with duck liver mousse filling
E&O Asian Kitchen – Lap Souchong devilled eggs
The European – housemade Spam with black grape jelly and Texas toast paired with samples of the European Cocktail (Campari, grapefruit, lemon and gum)
First Crush Restaurant & Wine Bar – stuffed mushrooms with quinoa salad and a balsamic pomegranate reduction
Farallon – crostini topped with Dungeness crab and Piquillo pepper aioli
OneUp Restaurant & Williams Sonoma – live cooking demo of SF’s classic dish cioppino, using fresh local seafood paired with Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co.’s Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and red blend wines
Tortilla Kitchen (Macy’s Basement) – house-made guacamole with tortilla chips and their signature agua fresca
Lucas Bols – tastes of their Aviation Punch (Bols Genever, Lemon, Maraschino, Creme de Violet and ginger beer) and their Damrak Amsterdam Gin & Tonic
Eno Wine Bar – a variety of selections from their extensive portfolio
Sonoma County Distilling Company – 1 oz tastes of their Sonoma Rye Whiskey and 2nd Chance Wheat Whiskey
Suerte Tequila – samples of their In The Cards cocktail (Suerte Reposado, blackberry balsamic syrup and lime juice) and tastes of Suerte Blanco, Suerte Reposado and Suerte Anejo tequilas
Nespresso – signature grand cru espresso and coffee drinks made to order
We’ll provide you with a map of these events, and each venue will have a stamp! If you visit three of these spots (and get stamped), you can enter to win one of a variety of Union Square goodies! Grand Hyatt Hotel (345 Stockton St.) – While you're here, come inside to see 7 large-scale paintings by local artists David Choong Lee, Damon Soule, Mario Martinez, Reuben Rude, Erik Otto and Ursula Xanthe Young. These representations of contemporary SF are located in the lobby, mezzanine and 36th floor of the hotel.
Jenkins Johnson Gallery (464 Sutter St.) – is featuring Gordon Parks’ American Champion chronicling Muhammad Ali’s heavyweight transformation as well as Ben Aronson’s paintings of SF and LA. A selection of wine and cheese from the team at Luques at the Chancellor Hotel will also be served.
Mystic Hotel (417 Stockton St.) – is proud to feature Bay Area artist Ellie Fritz and her installation Remnants. Fritz’s work is a hybrid of drawing, painting and printmaking with various mediums including charcoal and spray paint. These abstract compositions explore the weight of impression and the levity of erasure.
Caldwell Snyder Gallery (341 Sutter St.) – will hold an artist reception for Marti Somers’ rich, multi-layered paintings, which surround the viewer with a sense of wonder and a deep appreciation for the natural world, human life and art.
World Affairs Council (312 Sutter St., Suite 200) – will offer light refreshments and an opportunity to view Critical Issues Facing Asia: Marking 60 Years, a photography exhibition organized by The Asia Foundation in celebration of 60 years of improving lives and expanding opportunities across Asia.
CK Contemporary (357 Geary St.) – will feature highlights from their diverse collection of contemporary works from minimalist paintings to photo-realistic pieces, accompanied by a sampling of French Vietnamese food graciously provided by Le Colonial.
Martin Lawrence Galleries (366 Geary St.) – will tell the story of 20th century art with works from famed artists like Warhol, Picasso, Chagall, Murakami, Lichtenstein and more. Wine will be served.
GALLERIES AT 251 POST ST
Accession Gallery – Wine and cheese will be served surrounded by hundreds of modern and contemporary paintings.
Meyerovich Gallery – will feature American figurative artist associated with the pop art movement, Alex Katz's new and recent works. Katz's floral works will envelope the viewer into nature with his bold and vibrant colors and his portraits will leave an elegant impression on his audiences.
Sandra Lee Gallery – will host an opening reception for a special summer show called Metamorphosis. This show will feature artists who portray inspired expressions of the spirituality of our being. Artists will be present, and Black Smith Cellars wines will be served.
Scott Richards Art Gallery – will feature artist Anna Halldin Maule’s Persona, a beautiful and haunting exhibit of the artists’ hyper-realistic paintings featuring feminine figures in strange and fanciful costumes. Also, enjoy a tasting of Valley View Wines.
GALLERIES AT 49 GEARY ST
Altman Siegel Gallery – will present an exhibition of new photographs and sculptures by Sara VanDerBeek.
Elins Eagles-Smith Gallery – will present a gallery selection of Recent Acquisitions featuring artists like William Theophilus Brown, Manuel Neri, David Park and more.
Gregory Lind Gallery – will feature a group exhibition of contemporary, evocative and challenging work in a variety of media.
K. Imperial Fine Art – will hold an artist reception for OUTSIDE / IN, an exhibit that focuses on the preservation and manifestation of nature using organic forms. The artists explore the intersection of urban life and natural life while advocating for conservation.
The McLoughlin Gallery – will offer a futuristic and provocative exhibit called The Illusionists. With works like the stark yet evocative bar-coded acrylic pieces of Guillermo Bert, you will not want to miss this one!
Modernbook Gallery – will have photographs by Frank De Mulder for their summer exhibition. De Mulder's works show the delicate sensual world of women—from fragile and emotional to flamboyant and erotic—always at the highest level of beauty. Enjoy the images with a refreshing glass chardonnay.
Toomey Tourell Fine Art – will feature Some New Great Things, a summer group show with works reflecting an incredible mix of ideas and activity. Collectively, the works create a living organism comprised of a variety of media. Wine will be served.
