This weekend Union Square will make a great home-base for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities that sweep through San Francisco every year. First check out the parade, then make your way to a local pub for some appropriately-themed fare. Here are our Union Square picks for St. Paddy’s Day celebrating.
Complete with both traditional Irish music and Celtic rock bands, the Irish Bank knows how to throw a St. Paddy’s Day party. They’ll be doubling up this year with a post-parade celebration on Mar. 14, and more festivities on St. Patrick’s Day Mar. 17.

Every year the Irish community and friends get together for a jolly festival and parade in Civic Center Plaza and on Market Street. This year will include dancing, music, cultural groups, the Police and Fire Departments and more!
Adorned with photos of famous Irish writers, Johnny Foley’s makes an apropos setting for your St. Paddy’s day partying. Every night they have live entertainment, and St. Patrick’s Day, they’ll feature Fast & Vengefully on Mar. 14th and Damir on Mar. 17.
Classic San Francisco pub, Lefty O’Doul’s, is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day the old fashioned way with local fave Grant Ewald, who is a pianist, singer and comedian.
