Union Square SF’s Spring/Summer Entertainment Guide

Many of San Francisco’s top theaters, cabarets and live music venues are right here in Union Square! To help you plan a night on the town, here are some of the fabulous plays, bands and shows you can take in this spring.

American Conservatory Theater: A Little Night Music

May 20 – June 14

Enjoy Stephen Sondheim’s charming and seductive musical, which follows a bittersweet tale of lost love, scandalous infidelity and young passions that intertwine during an evening in 1900’s Sweden.

Filled with Sondheim’s witty dialogue and some of his most gorgeous melodies, including the beloved and haunting “Send in the Clowns,” A Little Night Music will sweep you away.

San Francisco Playhouse: Trouble Cometh

May 12 – June 27

This world-premiere play follows the adventures of Joe – a young executive with the seemingly perfect life. He has a dream job, a beautiful fiancée and an excellent challenge – create a new reality TV show in the next 72 hours. Fact and fiction begin to unravel as his deadline looms.

Shelton Theater: Fou Fou Ha! Whoa-Man! A Musical

May 1 - 30

This unique musical follows the lives of four contemporary women searching for love online and grappling with sexuality, power, body image and self-worth. Created by Fou Fou Ha! – SF’s cartoon cabaret ensemble, the show features dancing, singing and satirical riffs on pop-culture.

Shelton Theater: Secret Improv Society

Ongoing, Saturdays

Check out this hilarious and fast-paced improve show, which is now in its 7th year. This cast of seriously talented and clever performers is sure to impress.

Un-Scripted Theater Company: Dash

Ongoing, Saturdays

Comedy and chaos collide in this late-night show that encourages audience participation. The hour-long show is the perfect after-dinner treat filled with spontaneous excitement and laughs.
