Union Square Street Style Report: Spring Edition

**Guest blog by freelance writer Nance Howell - @thebarattender

Spring arrived early in San Francisco this year and all this gorgeous weather we’ve been having in Union Square has inspired these three stylish city dwellers to rock bold prints, black and white staples and classic denim. I took some time to discover their take on style, required reading and cocktails:

What would be your typical look for a night out?

My look for a night out could be as simple as a white v-neck tee with Merlot colored canvas kicks, or a Henley with the sleeves rolled up, and almost always blue jeans. At the end of the day I’m a cowboy: nothing beats a pair of good-fitting jeans.

What accessory do you wear most often to compliment your style?

For a while it was a hat. I’ve always admired Goorin Brothers, and among my collection is a fedora I purchased half-way around the world in Tokyo. I love my vests, always have. Lately though, I’ve been all about a .50 caliber bullet hanging from a brass chain. It was a gift from a good friend, complete with personalized engraving. It packs some weight and is one of a kind.

What websites do you peruse on a daily basis?

I'm not on the Internet all that much. I prefer using these apps instead: Spotify, Pandora, Songza, SF Climates, Dark Sky, KRON 4, Yelp, BTWB, Evernote, Google Maps, Sosh. Oh, and Facebook of course.

What is your favorite SF bar?

It varies. Living in Russian Hill, there’s been a night or two at Bullit, a glass of GSM at Amelie or Bacchus, the Buc for a beer and some pool, or, during playoff time, it’s the back table by the DJ booth at Rouge.

Name your favorite cocktail.

Rye Manhattan. Traditional. Timeless.

Vogue.com - for the online fashion shows.

The View- it's my secret hide away.

There are so many cocktails to choose from, but I always love a margarita with jalapeños!

What would be your typical look for a night out?

My go-to evening look is a fitted black dress with a blazer and open toe booties.

What accessory do you wear most often to compliment your style?

I like to layer dainty necklaces and bracelets. It helps me feel a bit hip, while still staying classy.

What websites do you peruse on a daily basis?

I try to stay current on fashion with Net-A-Porter, and SF Business Times for local news.

What is your favorite SF bar?

I am a homebody, but if I had to choose, I would say the bar at 25 Lusk. I do like Brass Tacks as well.

Name your favorite cocktail.

Without question, an Old Fashioned with Basil Hayden Bourbon.
