Union Square's Annual Gift Guide: For the Ladies

Whether it’s for your mother, your daughter, your partner or another lady in your life, you’ll want to get her something special this holiday season, and we’re here to help. Here are some of our favorite gift finds for the women on your holiday list, all available right here in Union Square.

Glamor Girl

Opulent, glamorous looks like feathers, faux fur and sequins are in. If your lady is a fan of glamor, the holidays are a good excuse to get her something dazzling. Try this gorgeous wintery fascinator with a ruby red feather flower with pearl details from Goorin Bros. Is she a sucker for a statement-making pair of stilettos? The new Kurt Geiger shop on Stockton is just the spot, and we adore the Candy heels in black and white – a cheeky take on a saddle shoe that would be fab for the right lady. If she enjoys handmade jewelry that makes a statement, stop by Favor on Sutter St. Their locally-made, original carved resin pieces are chunky and whimsical – perfect for an SF lady. Lace is another nice touch this winter – we recommend this cute black on neutral lace sweater from Zara for a sweet gift. To truly wow her, we suggest the Cecily bag (5) from Mulberry on Grant Ave. This breathtaking piece comes in a peachy nude color with signature leather woven through the chain handle and would truly make an impressive gift for a lucky lady.

Classic Flair

We like a girl with classic style in Union Square, and there are many shops where you can grab that slightly retro, but still current look for the gal in your life. Sometimes style starts from the toes up, and we love the ballet flats from London Sole for a sweet and stylish gift. They come in every color as well as tons of prints and even sparkly varieties! If you know her well, you might get her a fun 70’s chic orange coat from Uniqulo. You could also wow her with this elegant gold-plated watch from Kate Spade. For the casual, classic girl this black and white polka-dot Camden Tote from Madewell is very smart looking. For a true dose of retro style, stop by Lomography on Sutter St. They sell snazzy analog cameras with all sorts of cool designs. We dig the new line of Champagne themed cams for a classy lady, like the Fisheye No. 2 Brut cam (pictured left) with a 170 degree wide angle lens and fun distortion or the versatile Diana F+ Cuvee Prestige camera (1).

Creatures of Comfort

Does the girl you’re gifting like to cozy up in something soft and warm? We have plenty of options that don’t sacrifice style for comfort. We love this Rachel Roy tribal-patterned sweater from Macy’s. We also like this oversized cowl neck sweater from H&M in green or pink. For a more upscale option, a cashmere sweater from Theory with contrasting sleeves is sure to make any lady smile.  Of course, comfort isn’t all about what you’re wearing, for a cozy afternoon at home, she’ll need a warm beverage – surprise her with a cute and convenient Nespresso U machine (3), so she can easily make her own espresso drinks at home this winter. Candles are a great way to set the mood when you’re relaxing, and some of our favorites are from Diptyque on Maiden Ln. We suggest the Indoor/Outdoor Tubereuse Candle (2) set in a beautiful claret ceramic goblet. Continue the pampering in the tub with a luxurious Sake and Seaberry spa retreat gift set (4) from Fresh with a lovely scent and the powers to exfoliate, detoxify and heal skin!

If glam and girly isn’t her style, we have plenty of options that are a little more bold and edgy. We suggest you go to the new Scotch & Soda shop on Grant Ave. They have all kinds of sleek tom-boy looks for less girly girls. You might get her this hardware inspired necklace or a bracelet with brass nuts on it. We also dig their clean, fashionable vests like this gilet with a zipper running across the waste. Allsaints is another great option – we suggest you grab her a daring accessory like this double thick cowhide belt or a military inspired metal button coat. To keep her warm and on-trend you might try this black sweater wrap with just a hint of sequins at the collar from Diesel. To add a bold touch to any top, consider this multi-chain collar necklace from the new Topshop section in Nordstrom.
