As San Francisco winds down from the culinary excellence that is SF Chefs, Platinum Sponsor Westfield San Francisco Centre invites visitors and locals to explore the gourmet dining options at the Restaurant Collection Under the Dome on Level 4 of the shopping center. International travelers frequently name San Francisco as a culinary hotspot, so it should come as no surprise thatone of the Bay Area’s top shopping destinations features an impressive collection of full-service, award-winning cuisine for lunch, brunch, dinner and everything in between.
The newest addition to the Restaurant Collection Under the Dome is celebrity chef and James Beard Award winner Martin Yan’s M.Y. China. Offering authentic modern Chinese cuisine, M.Y. China serves dim sum, hand-pulled lo mein noodles, and wok-fired entrées prepared in an open exhibition kitchen. A unique menu coupled with ample opportunity to learn how each dish is made translates into both entertainment and an unparalleled opportunity for culinary discovery. Fans and foodies alike are delighted to observe the handiwork of master noodle-maker Yong Dong Wu, as he expertly stretches a five pound mass of dough into 10,000 strands of thick noodles in a matter of minutes using only his hands during live demonstrations.
Situated directly under the Centre’s majestic 102-foot wide glass dome is San Francisco’s most popular neighborhood café and bakery, La Boulange du Dome. Lead by the Bordeaux-native Pascal Rigo, La Boulange du Dome brings a taste of his native country to Westfield San Francisco Centre with an exquisite menu of traditional pastries, homemade breads, mini tea sandwiches, salads and desserts, plus organic coffee and local wines. Visitors to La Boulange du Dome have a front row seat for seasonal entertainment, including the popular dome shows, Corazon Under the Dome and the new Nutcracker Under the Dome – A Light Spectacular Inspired by San Francisco Ballet scheduled to debut Holiday 2013.
The Restaurant Collection Under the Dome is also home to the handsome LarkCreekSteak restaurant featuring an intimate dining room, cozy bar and lounge, private dining space, and exhibition kitchen counter. The menu masterfully combines two worlds: great steaks, seafood and chops plus seasonal, farm-fresh American fare; topped off with an extensive wine list of 250 all-American bottles.
Chef Marc Tennison celebrates the flavors of Italy at Cupola Pizzeria, which offers authentic, delicious Neapolitan-style pizza in addition to panini, housemade pastas, salads and desserts. All pizzas are cooked in a handcrafted Stefano Ferrara pizza oven imported from Naples, Italy. Cupola, which means “dome” in Italian, features stylish modern decor including a red lacquer communal table modeled after a fashion runway.
Another mouth-watering option, Straits Restaurant, offers a variety of tantalizing Pan-Asian dishes in a casual yet chic environment. The cuisine at Straits reflects the cultural diversity of Singapore with Malyasian, Indonesian, Indian, Chinese and Nonya-inspired flavors. Dishes from all regions are served family-style so that guests can easily share this unique experience.
