Katya Smirnoff Skyy

Katya Smirnoff Skyy

Katya, A Bittersweet 90’s Symphony.

In this cabaret event, join Eastern Europe’s most sought-after mezzo-soprano… understudy and, self-proclaimed, Godmother of Grunge as she takes you on a musical journey through the 1990s.

Worn out by decades of fame, and chased by the IRS, the Countess Katya Smirnoff-Skyy fled NYC in 1991 in search of a quite, semi-charmed kind of life.  Taking up residence on the sleepy banks Lake Washington, Katya wittingly finds herself at the center of a musical revolution.  Neighbor to Kurt Cobain, diction coach to Celine Dion, and muse of Lilith Fair, Katya worked selflessly behind the scenes to shape a sound that defined a generation.  “Ironically” her story has never been told ... until now.

Drawing upon the music of Nirvana, Semisonic, the Spice Girls and more, this show will take you back to a time when “groove was in the heart”, streets were paved in plaid flannel, and no one dared to destroy your sweater. Under the musical direction to Joe Wicht this show is not to be missed.
