Programs and Services

We offer a variety of programs and services that help make Union Square a better place to work, stay and play.

Members of the Union Square BID receive these valuable benefits:

Are you curious about what our ambassadors and clean team are up to? Check out our JanuaryFebruaryMarch, April, May, and June Operations Reports for detailed info on the work they do for us.

Cleaning & Maintenance - Everyone benefits from the Clean and Green program. It increases Union Square property values and enhances visitor experiences.

  • All properties receive a sidewalk steam cleaning every two weeks. View the June - September 2014 Steam Cleaning Schedules to find your property's sidewalk cleaning date.
  • The BID performs litter removal and sidewalk sweeping 7 days a week from 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Properties get grafitti removal up to 8 feet, with property owners authorization.

Community Service Ambassadors (CSA’s) - A safe and secure environment brings new businesses to the area and keeps visitors coming back for more. Union Square’s red-jacketed Community Service Ambassadors are a welcoming presence in the district and interact with thousands of visitors every week, giving directions, referrals and distributing the BID’s Map & Guide. Ambassadors are available 7 days a week, 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Additional Police Patrol – The BID’s 10B police officer patrols the district 7 days a week, 10 hours a day, providing assistance to tourists and locals alike, when needed.

Marketing – – The Union Square BID creates and implements imaginative PR, marketing and social media projects and programs to brand the district, let consumers know about all the fabulous things we have to offer and encourage visitation.

Public Affairs and Advocacy – The Union Square BID works with the city to advocate and represent members’ interests and ensure the economic vitality of the district.

Streetscape Improvements   – The Union Square BID develops landscaping and streetscaping ideas and programs to distinguish the district and enhance the pedestrian experience in the area.

Capital Improvements – The Union Square BID sponsors architectural and restorative programs to improve and enrich the district.
