The USBID continues to provide clean and safe services to the district under the City & County of San Francisco’s updated Shelter-In-Place policy. For more information about curb-side pick-up, click here.

Cleaning & Safety Services
[Effective 6/04/2020] Member Services is now resumed to 6:30am – 10:30pm daily, with Overnight Security Services available between 10:00pm – 6:00am.  Clean and safe ambassadors will operate between 5:30am – 11:30pm. Pressure washing and the ATLV will operate between 9:00pm – 5:30am daily. To report a clean or safe incident between 6:30am – 10:30pm, please contact Member Services at 415-781-4456 or To report a safe incident between 10:00pm – 6:00am, please contact Legion Security at 415-724-2909 and mention your membership with the USBID. 

[As of 7/29/2020] The City & County of San Francisco is currently in Phase 2b (Zoo) of the re-opening plan. Business hours may be affected. Please check local listings. Retailers open for touchless shopping and restaurants open for take-out are available. Continue practicing social distancing and maintaining property safety protocols like hand washing and wearing a facial mask. With rapid response Member Services and innovative coverage, our Member Services representatives dispatch ambassadors to help maintain a high level of customer support and make our district cleaner and safer while providing a more welcoming place for visitors, workers, and residents. The Member Services number (415) 781-4456 and email are the only contacts you need to request any of the cleaning and safety services we provide. Ambassadors & Overnight Security
Ambassadors & Overnight Security

Ambassadors: They are the eyes and ears of Union Square for property owners and managers, businesses, community stakeholders, visitors, and residents.

Their primary responsibility is to observe, advise, and report quality of life issues on the streets. They can be seen wearing red Union Square uniforms.

Overnight Security: Unarmed, uniformed personnel actively patrol the district from 10pm–6am. Their role is to observe, report, and address low-level crimes, and provide a hospitality presence.

Hospitality Ambassadors
Hospitality Ambassadors

They are the face of Union Square to visitors and tourists. Their primary responsibility is to assist and engage tourists with a friendly smile and direct them to wherever they wish to go.
