The Union Square Alliance engages in a variety of marketing programs to educate our members and the community regarding activities of the Union Square Alliance and engages with consumers by activating public spaces with popular events as well as promote the best places to eat, shop and visit in the district, promoting Union Square as a world class destination. 


Member and Business Marketing

  • Weekly Union Square Alliance Member Newsletter with important news about the district and district programs (Sign Up Here!)

  • LinkedIn channel used to promote Union Square Alliance programs and public advocacy efforts

  • Union Square Website- serves as a dual-purpose website, with member information regarding services, reports, meetings, and ways to get involved in the work of the Alliance and consumer content with a basic directory of businesses within the district. This website will be completely refreshed in the second half of 2021. Watch for more details.


Consumer Focused Marketing

  • Social Media accounts @unionsquaresf on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram dedicated to promoting Union Square consumer businesses and events. On social media, we retain a consumer-focused voice, presenting our curated picks of the best places to shop, dine, visit in the district. Follow Us Here.

  • Events in Union Square Park, Maiden Lane, and Hallidie Plaza ranging from concerts, art shows, pop ups, and other engaging and unique happenings. 


Union Square Rebrand

In 2020, the Board of the Union Square Alliance entered into a contract with J2 Design to embark on a comprehensive rebranding project that elevates Union Square's identity and place within the greater community as an organization, an international destination, and a central gathering place for all. This project is now underway and the new brand with begin making an appearance in the public realm in Summer 2021. J2 Design conducted several months of research on the ground with stakeholders through individual interviews and participation in the Union Square Economic Recovery Task Force, and through audience surveys, communication analysis, and a comparative audit. J2 Design created a short video overview of their work to date, from the Brand Manifesto to the creative components that will bring the new Union Square brand to life.
