**Guest Post by the team at CLIFT Hotel
CLIFT Hotel is celebrating 100 years in San Francisco in style with a whole slew of new offerings to share with the city and visitors. To get the 100th birthday party going, we put the spotlight on local bar talent by letting them create a new centennial cocktail list! The menu is available until the end of the year, with cocktails from notable bartenders including Nora Furst of Lolinda, Daniel Godinez of 15 Romolo, and CLIFT’s own Redwood Room bartender Anthony Kim. One of our faves is the Bentley Old Fashioned by H. Joseph Ehrmann of Elixir. It’s a tasty take on the classic with Breaking and Entering bourbon, chocolate bitters, orgeat and dark chocolate.
To keep the party going all year long, CLIFT also launched a new Decompression Hour in the legendary Redwood Room. The new happy hour is a great option to relax and retreat after a day of shopping and gallivanting through the Square. Options include craft beers from $5, $2 off well cocktails, and innovative bites ranging from $5-9 – our favorite is the Mini Bacon Dogs with 4505 hot dog, smoked bacon, and house-made chips ($6)!
Because we’ve always been stylish throughout our 100 years, CLIFT has partnered with Union Square’s HARPUTSØWN, the beloved San Francisco designer, for a pop-up store on the first level of the hotel that will run until the end of June. The shop is open daily from 3 pm – 9 pm, showing Harputs’ complete Autumn/Winter 2015 women’s collection with custom sizing, color and fabrics for CLIFT guests. There are also custom denim and jackets available for men.
The Clift has a rich history. We started as the first fire-proof and earthquake proof hotel in San Francisco in 1915, opening just in time for the Pan Pacific Exposition. The elegant Redwood Room was added in 1933 and has served as the backdrop for many a night on the town and inspiring conversations. With 100 years of history in Union Square behind us, CLIFT continues to be the place where rebels, innovators and creators go to meet, relax and define tomorrow.
CLIFT is a century-old mainstay in San Francisco’s bustling Union Square neighborhood. An inspired fusion of old-world hotel elegance with distinctly contemporary energy and glamour, CLIFT’s modern and daring sense of diversity perfectly captures San Francisco’s spirit. Luxurious 400 thread-count bedding, down duvets and Merino wool blankets make-up the property’s 372 guestroom’s muted elegance. Downstairs is the recently restored and reinvented Redwood Room, an exceptionally elegant and modern San Francisco bar suffused with all-out glamour, as well as the next door Velvet Room, a unique dining and event venue where Executive Chef Thomas Weibull produces seasonal offerings of high-end fare. CLIFT is located at 495 Geary Street, San Francisco, CA 94102.
