Sushi Nagai is located at 125 Ellis Street in San Francisco’s bustling Union Square neighborhood. The serene traditional dining room has 20 seats and is helmed by Chef Tomonori Nagai, whose specialty is Edomae-style sushi. Nagai started his career as a sushi chef in Japan in the 1990s, after graduating from the Musashino Culinary School in Tokyo. He worked as a sushi chef at Sushiden in Japan and its New York City outpost. One of his proudest moments was serving Pres. Barack Obama while working as sushi chef at Morimoto, Hawaii. Nagai also worked at Shinji by Kanesaka, a Michelin star restaurant in Singapore.
